Successful Case Studies of Monel Alloy 400 in Marine Engineering
High salinity, humidity, and biofouling in marine environments impose stringent requirements on the corrosion resistance of metallic materials. Monel alloy 400 and K500, with their excellent seawater corrosion resistance, are widely used in critical components such as fasteners for offshore platforms, pump shafts, and heat exchanger tube bundles.
A marine platform project utilized K500 alloy fastener wire produced by Jiangsu Gaoen Alloy to manufacture over 10 sets of high-strength, corrosion-resistant fasteners. The K500 alloy achieves a tensile strength exceeding 690MPa through aging hardening while maintaining corrosion resistance comparable to 400 alloy.
After 5 years of actual service, K500 alloy fasteners showed no signs of pitting, crevice corrosion, or stress corrosion cracking. Maintenance costs were reduced by approximately 60% compared to the original 316 stainless steel solution. This case fully demonstrates the reliability of Monel alloys in marine engineering applications.
Jiangsu High-Entropy Alloys offers Monel wire in two grades: 400 and K500, with diameters ranging from Φ0.1mm to Φ8mm, meeting the needs of various marine engineering applications.
